Gaining the skills and confidence to create a work of art is truly enabling. Creativity is a natural activity that everyone can and should experience. I believe in teaching from a strong knowledge base, delivering skills, encouraging experimentation and nurturing self-expression. My areas of focus are representational and figurative art.  My studio practice is woven together with my role as a teacher. For fifteen years I have taught regular adult weekly classes in life drawing, painting and sculpture from my studio. Each week people spend time making and learning in the same space that I make all my work. This is a communal way of being that I am immensely proud of. My students observe my work as it develops, their input is naturally a valuable part of my own development as an artist.

If you live near my studio in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, you can take part in my weekly art classes. I also lead a limited number of art masterclasses and the occasional art holiday. All sessions take place in a working group studio, with a structure to inspire artists of all levels of experience. The relaxed yet purposeful atmosphere enables everyone to discover and achieve amongst small groups of like-minded friends.
