aining the skills and confidence to create a work of art is truly enabling. Creativity is a natural activity that everyone can and should experience. Jamie believes in teaching from a strong knowledge base, delivering skills, encouraging experimentation and nurturing self-expression. His areas of focus are representational and figurative art.
If you live near his studio in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, you can take part in his weekly art classes. Jamie also leads a limited number of art masterclasses and the occasional art holiday. All sessions take place in a working group studio, with a structure to inspire artists of all levels of experience. The relaxed yet purposeful atmosphere enables everyone to discover and achieve amongst small groups of like-minded friends.
COVID-19 safe working.
After several months of closure the teaching studio is re-opening with some necessary changes, to keep everyone safe during the current public health crisis. These precautions include: sanitising stations, no shared equipment, regular cleaning of rooms, use of PPE, and reduced class sizes. For a full list of precautions, email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please don’t hesitate to ask, your safety and peace of mind is the first priority.
The atmosphere in the studio is really welcoming - Jamie helps everyone feel at ease and ready to get creative. I felt encouraged, inspired, daunted at times, but never self conscious or judged. Jamie really enables you to get the best from yourself. He is always attentive and supportive without being at all intrusive, seeming to know when you are in need of a bit more help. His inputs give you confidence so that the work always feels your own. I left at the end of each day feeling both exhilarated and exhausted. There are so few opportunities like this in the whole country; even fewer I imagine that are done as well as this. Absolutely brilliant.
